Donets ruffe (Gymnocephalus acerina) is a species of perch native to eastern Europe where it occurs in the basins of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. They inhabit freshwater lakes and rivers usually over hard compacted sand. They are predominantly crepuscular and prey mostly on invertebrates (crustaceans, insect larvae, mollusks), rarely on fish.

Don't give up mate,  the feeling of getting a fish that's been so difficult makes it worth carrying on trying!     Here is a spot my friend had one at last night, its the second one of these that I saw come from this area yesterday.    99:111  middle of the beach bit casting over to the dead tree branches bit laying in the water and that area.   I haven't got one yet but maybe it will be lucky for you,  \o  There are other areas all over that I've been told about but this one looks the best yet.

P.s funny JHendrix mentioned golden tench,  as that's next on my hit list after this species lol.

Winding Rivulet is I believe the only place this fish can be found (I might be wrong?)  As for hook , well always try to balance it with the species and the bait used.  I think worm is very good for these fish and so considering their size and the bait id suggest quite a small hook.

I've caught this fish 3 times, all of them on worms and a 1/0 hook believe it or not.

I caught a value sized one (green flag) near that same stretch of water. Definitely go there.

I caught mine on a Size 10 hook and a worm on a feeder rod.

Check the weekly records to confirm.

Donets are currently farmable, 2-3 Pieces a Night are possible. (Several people did so, reproducable. Still think about that some People did spend 50h+ RL Time and did not get one)

The one really important thing is the 6.4 Fluoro Leader, this single piece seems to enable them... (I know, if I would read that from someone else I would also think yeah yeah. Just try it.)

Bait in order: 1. Bloodworm 2. worm 3. Maggot 4. Redworm

At the Pictures below: Exact Location + Cast Area + Used Gear.

(Cast for me 45-50%, look that your Rod is not to hard, otherwise you will miss several bites)
