Old Burg Lake

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I tried a bit eel fishing at Old Burg. Was good only the first night, the second was too warm for eels (10.5°C at 04:00 am).

During daytime, the fishing is not very good at this place (tried things, but mostly 400-500g crucians).

Spot: 24:29

Baits: nightcrawlers and fish pieces

Groundbait: take a look at screenshots

Results: Some nice eels when climatic conditions are ok.

Standard Bream GB is fine too, just look that the Quality of it is as high as possible to increase averrage Fish weight and Trophy chance.

It is still the same that Bream size is rolling generally higher during Night. You can fish at that location 24/7, but you will see a big difference.

The currently best working bait is Garlic Dough, but you can also use Pea Porridge and Pear Barley (did not test worms).

I only kept tagged fishes, there is also a decent amount of small stuff as side catch so don't worry if you catch them, every Fish is rolled by itself, so the more you catch the higher the chance for a Trophy.

Ps: Gras and Common Carps are rare sidecatches there. If you fish with fine gear (recommended for Breams) do not waste your Time with them. If you have enough line open your reel and wait till he gets off or simply relog (do not cut your line, waste of money.).

I was fishing in the above spot for last two days with good results, no trophy yet but I got many nice breams above 1kg every night. Good income and lots of fun.

To add to the baits - Garlic works all the time, plus I had good results on redworm and especially Strawberry boilies 12 (works best in the morning). At night put whatever currently works for Burbot - Ruffie live bait/ Fish piece - I got 5kg Burbs there.

Also worth mention I started to use spot rod with standard Bream mix and it boosted the bite rates/fish size imo.

10:44 Bream Spot is still hot and delivering.

Additional Infos:

The bigger Breams and better fishing is starting at arround 20:00 and does last till ~ 9:00.

Using spod rod (1 Rocket 5 pieces high Qual GB) and focusing that area is recommended.

3 Rods with Garlic as bait and 9/10 10/10 GB will produce 140-200 Silver in that Timeframe.

If you are staying at that spot during the day too I would recommend to use the lower Quality GB.

Fishing during the day is still fine frequency wise, but the averrage weight and amount of tagged Fishes is lower and it will also make Night fishing worse.

For the Spot to regenerate properly i would recommend to leave Ob completely. Tests I made did show that leaving an Area is way better than just leaving the spot.

I personally leave during the day going for Barbels at Bear (74:86 right side clip 24), or for carps (44:50 clip 24, 56:35 clip 26).

If you wanna stay at Ob you can go for Tenches at 70:50 Clip 7-8 (slow bite rate due Tenches behaving the same like Breams with prefering the evening till morning Time), or if you have the gear, you can also go for Carps at the Pond.

Frequency fishing only at Night, with leaving during the Day.

Most of the tagged Fishes over 1 kg.

rf4_4.0.11430_20190322_072544.thumb.png.930c5011aaf2c3dab74af3f0d81a9d1e.png

3 Days + 2 Nights

All kept Fishes are tagged, ~50% of them below 1kg --> mainly caught during Day.

Not leaving the spot does result into a lower Frequency and lower averrage Weight.

17:68 aim for the sunken tree on the other side (around 70% with Mesh 20g, using in-line rig)... I rarely clip, so I don't have exact ranges.
Used the same setup: 17.4kg Simmons Pure FC, Bloody Series 1, Diced Potatoes on all 3 rods
I know these aren't trophies, but some good catch with low gear...
The groundbait as you can see is: Feed, Corn, Cookies, Eggs, Banana (I know lol...)
Weather was cloudy/sunny, mostly morning and late afternoon.

With this setup i got a few 9+ kg Black Carps, some 10+ kg Carps, and some Grass Carps too (easy ones, you gotta learn how to deal with them).

ps.: Gibels and Crucians caught with Forest Strawberry 15 and Hot Cherry 16, Bloody 4, groundbait doesn't really matter :)

And got there someone trophy? I always fishing carps little more to left near grass about 12-15m clip in "green water". Tried this spot again yesterday and got same result(biggest was ~18kg and ~13kg). Don't need to risk in such strange place if near you can have same result and you will be fishing in almost same place. Carp not eel, to like snags :D
