Skill trees are very important in the game. Share your point allocation and why you chose it.

Guys, when I catch a fish I get some xp, which increase my skills. It is OK. But when I release a fish I can get some extra XP.

My question is if this extra xp also increase my skills or only increase my level?

Thanks,

Z.

There are two types of points you get with your catch XP points, that go to your level and skill points:
(please see the picture below)

So based on this picture when I choose 'release' thus I get extra XP it will increase my level but NOT the skill levels. Thanks.

Yes. That's correct.

Hello - does anyone know if level and/or skill points affects the size of fish that you can catch? I'm just wondering if one of the reasons I don't get many big fish biting is that I'm only 49% in spinning.

Grateful to anyone who can answer!

Superfishial, The short answer is yes it all affects the size of the fish or how many fish you get. For instance the better you are at a skill the easier it will be to perform and attract bigger fish.

I got a question, some rods give skill bonuses. I was wondering if these bonuses would exceed the skill cap of lets say using a slider rig. So if i have 3 points in it and use that rod would i have 4 points in using a slider rig or will it stay at 3 points. thanks

Yes from what I have learned you will gain an addition point to using that specific rod only

I am currently level 16 and 46.3% in float fishing. I'm fishing with bolognese rod and rig and my skill progress is super slow. Is there any way/trick to speed up this levelling or do I need to grind it? When levelling bait crafting you can get more point toward your skill by crafting newly discovered bait but it doesn't look like it's the case with levelling fishing skills... or I am wrong?

Hello Jinxter,

Sorry for the delay on answering your question. It's a grind when it comes to increasing your fishing skills. The higher your percentage is the harder it is to get skill increase, but changing your rigs to the newest unlocked rigs, baits, locations help to increase your skill. Since you will be catching different fish when you change your baits and locations and catching different species and different size fish helps with increasing your skills.

@Jinxter When my float fishing hit the same % you are at, same happened for me, think I was hitting Winding Rivulette at that time on a daily basis, and then percentage increase dried up. What I did was go back to Mosquito on lighter setups and it started rising again, past 50% and I went back to Rivulette and on to Old Burgh and it continued to rise. In the high 70's now and it's still slowly levelling. Only jump in game a couple times a week at last 10% of level 21, but so far still climbing with my visits to the higher lakes. (I just chill fish to wind down from work and am not chasing levels or anything but relaxing to the ambience ...:)....)

At the time I just needed to catch different fish on different gear, and dropping down to lighter gear and smaller fish worked well to kickstart the % climb again.

Give it a try, may work for you, but you have nothing to lose trying, and it's cheap fishing on Mosquito.

Good luck

Excellent advice!!!

We are using same spinning reels for float,  ground or spinning fishing so what is the point to have separate skill points in each group for exactly same gear? It not only feels redundant but strongly forced idea which doesn't make sense. If I can use e.g. spinning reel I should add points to this skill set only once no matter which type of fishing I'm doing.

Do anyone makes different driving licence when driving a different brand car of the same class? Nope ;)

@jinxter, i moved your post here to skill tree discussions. the skill points you put into fishing with a spinning reel go's across float, bottom feeder, and spin fishing. that way you only have to put points in it once. other skills will increase when you add points to them whether it is multiple skills or not. bait casting skill i have noticed that when i added points to the skill fishing with a bait caster the points did go to two skills at the time. i also suggest that you look at what you do more for fishing whether it is bottom feeder, float, or spin fishing and try to focus on the skill in that tree. i hope that helps you with some of the skill trees.

I have one more question and it's (i guess) in between skills and baits :D Does location makes difference when digging worms? Are there spots where you can find more e.g. nightcrawlers?

from what i have done for digging for baits like the nightcrawlers, worms and etc. i have not noticed any place specific at all. i have done a some digging on the beaches and further up the area that i have been fishing in.

I don’t understand what the issue is with getting skill points. Just keep playing and the skill % will continue to increase! I’m lv29 with 84% bottom, 63~% bait harvest, 55~% spin, 49% groundbait etc. When I make groundbait with lv4 stuff my skills increase quite well. When I cut fish my harvest skill has been increasing quite well. When I fish it feels like a good pace for my skill increases.

It takes time, don’t go thinking your getting 100% just like that! It takes a lot of effort, lots of fishing, lots of crafting, lots of making baits.. don’t shovel for skill points omg lol. Make baits! Cut fish that is the efficient way. Any points gained from shovel or scoop I take it as a bonus.

Remember this game game is designed to be played for a long time, there is no easy cut and paste way to max. Enjoy the game and the skill % will come.

i just recently pumped my groundbait from 46% to 49% making 50 lv4 groundbait components with premium and I don’t have any issue with that pace. The reward to achieve 100% will be awesome that’s for sure.

The picture of the russian guy is a player who got to 100% before we got more crafted baits. It’s easier to get to fish pieces now. But the last 20% is still incredible slow.

Hi everyone. Currently I'm sitting the mid 50s for feeder fishing skill. I have premium but I'm hardly getting experience points. I know I should target different species etc but I have and nothing seems to give me points. If I use later equipment and skills like my upcoming loop rig skill or picker rods (which I have used before) will they give me more experience because it's new/unused techniques? I really want to get to live bait as I have already unlocked frog harvest skill but can't use them

Hi krokenosterfant2

Using the "latest" unlocked method will give you more chance for getting a skill points, also try to target different fish species to be more successful.

Hi scratchxD

By adding the points to this method of fishing your chance of catching a trophy using this method improves.

Just reached 90% GB, 91.5% Harvesting, 80% Lure making. Harvesting is crazy hard to skillup after 90% I got stuck on 91.2% and crafted an estimate of 100 baitfish, 200 fish piece, 10-20 frogs, and 50 polenta (was just desperate to see a skillup) before getting a 0.1% Anything before 90% is cake compared to that.

I understand the diminishing returns, its just really hard after 90% (Atleast for bait harvesting) GB is pretty straight forward with more and cheaper options to get you there so I expect 100% soon on that one. Lures is just gonna be real expensive but the skillups seem more generous (maybe thats because I am still 80% on that one)

I would love to see just 1 new high level recipe for Harvesting to help out with the last push to 100% tho. Because its just insanely tough at this point. That would be awesome.

After a certain point tho Shovel/scoop just wont do anything no matter how much you spam it. Probably intended since it a free chance for skills, no investment needed.

Advice for skilling up bottom fishing skill: (99.6% skill atm) Target small highly active fish, like roach, perch, small bream, crucian/gible, ruffe, chinese sleeper. These fish are inexpensive and bite at a higher rate than other fish. You can sit at mosquito and Burg and catch these species non-stop. I used simple bottom rig for probably 80% of my skillups and didnt change to the most recent unlocked hardly at all. Simple bottom rig is the only rig that has a skill perk for increased chance to catch a fish. That is what I used at these places to work on bottom fishing skillups and it worked great. (Roach seem to give the most skillups in my experience)

Ok, Ever since I got that .1 finally, it seems like something shook loose and I am getting a more decent rate of skillups again. (atleast for what my expectations are lol) Going semi-well now. I hope it keeps up. (Harvesting)

Thought I would share a couple SS's of most recent couple bottom rig skillups. Still on simple bottom rig, fishing small fish for bait. I missed the screenshot before these which was a 34g sleeper that also gave me a +0.1 (All 3 happened within about an hour)
