Salvelinus levanidovi is an endemic Asian species of char. They inhabit the northeastern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk and the basins of the Yama, Takhtoyama and Penshina rivers. The Levanidov's char has a streamlined body. The head is broad with a large mouth. During spawn the sides of the fish become olive-yellow which causes the locals to call this fish 'lemongrass'. It prefers fast flowing rivers with pebble and sand bottoms and is mainly caught with artificial or live baits.
