Russian Fishing 4 Technical Issue Resolution

 

Scope:

Russian Fishing 4 is currently in open beta. This means the game is not considered complete at this time and not all features, optimizations, and bug fixes are resolved or implemented.

 

When contacting support for assistance please be sure to review the minimum system requirements below, unsupported graphics adapters, and starting instructions. If your system is below the specification, or you are using one of the unsupported graphics adapters the support we will be able to offer will be limited.

 

Also, please note we cannot perform the following actions:

  • Restore discarded items.
  • Give out free items.
  • Provide refunds for items purchased in game.
  • Provide detailed instructions on how to catch fish.

 

Minimum System Specifications:

  • CPU/Processor: Intel i3 2.5Ghz
  • Graphics Adapter/Card: Nvidia GTX 500 series
  • RAM/Memory: 4Gb
  • Free HDD Space / Storage: 20Gb
  • Operating System: 64bit Windows 7 or Better
  • Stable internet connection

 

 

Unsupported Graphics Adapters:

Starting/General Instructions:

  1. Ensure during installation and updating that anti-virus, anti-malware, and anti-cheat software is turned off.
  2. Ensure that Malware Bytes is not running. This piece of software is known to cause many conflicts with Russian Fishing 4.
  3. Ensure FACEIT software for CS:GO is not running. It is also known to conflict with Russian Fishing 4.
  4. Ensure all drivers are up to date. Do not just focus on graphics drivers, ensure mainboard and any other devices installed have the latest drivers.
  5. Ensure there are exceptions for Russian Fishing 4 in your Windows Firewall.
  6. Restart the game. Many problems are resolved by simply re-launching the game.

 

Problems with Game Installation, Updates, or Instability after a patch:

Steam Instructions:

Spoiler

First try the below:

  1. Right click on Russian Fishing 4 in your Steam library.
  2. Click on properties.
  3. Click on the local files tab.
  4. Click on verify integrity of game files.

 

If the above did not resolve the problem:

  1. Right Click on Russian Fishing 4 in your Steam library.
  2. Click on properties.
  3. Click on the Local Files tab.
  4. Select uninstall game.
  5. After the game is uninstalled, exit Steam.
  6. Open up your preferred file browser and navigate to your Steam game repository. Typically this is: C:\Program Files\Steam (x86)\SteamApps\Common
  7. Delete the Russian Fishing 4 directory
  8. Navigate to C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\RussianFishingLLC.
  9. Delete the RussianFishingLLC folder.
  10. Restart Steam.
  11. Reinstall Russian Fishing 4.

 

If the steps above did not resolve the problem, and you meet the minimum system specification, please contact support using the information at the bottom of this post.

RF4 Launcher Instructions:

Try the below first:

  1. Exit the game or launcher.
  2. Right click on the launcher icon and select properties.
  3. Click on the compatibility tab.
  4. Select run as administrator.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Navigate to the Russian Fishing 4 installation directory. Typically this is C:\Games\RussianFishing4.
  7. Right click on rf4_64.exe and select properties.
  8. Click on the compatibility tab
  9. Select run as administrator.
  10. Click ok.

 

If the above did not work, try the following:

  1. Exit the game or launcher.
  2. Uninstall the game.
  3. Navigate to the Russian Fishing 4 installation directory. Typically this is C:\Games\RussianFishing4.
  4. Delete the RussianFishing4 directory.
  5. Navigate to C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\RussianFishingLLC.
  6. Delete the RussianFishingLLC folder.
  7. Using the latest installer downloaded from https://rf4game.com/download/ reinstall the game.
  8. Follow the steps under ‘Try the below first’
  9. Play the game!

Character Moves Continuously:

Spoiler
  1. Close the game.
  2. Check to see if you have any other HID (Human Input Devices) attached to your PC other than a keyboard and mouse. Examples include but are not limited to game controllers, drawing tablets, and/or auxiliary keypads.
  3. If you do, unplug them.
  4. Restart the game.
  5. If the problem is still there - exit the game and ensure you have USB 3.0 devices plugged into USB 3.0 ports.
  6. Restart the game.
  7. If the problem continues, exit the game and install the latest mainboard drivers to ensure your USB drivers are up to date.
  8. Restart the game.

 

If the steps above did not resolve the problem, and you meet the minimum system specification, please contact support using the information at the bottom of this post.

 

Cannot save settings, stuck even after restarting the game, or long store load times:

Spoiler
  1. Navigate to C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming.
  2. Delete any folder with Russian Fishing 4 in the name.
  3. Restart Russian Fishing 4.

Graphical Glitches in the Game or Crashes related to D3D11.DLL:

Spoiler
  1. Ensure your video card/graphics adapter meets the minimum specification. If it does not and the below does not resolve your problem, your card may not be able to handle Russian Fishing 4 in a stable manner.
  2. Uninstall your graphics driver.
  3. Reinstall your graphics driver.
  4. If the above does not work:
  5. Get a third party driver uninstall utility. There are several free ones available that specialize in removing graphics drivers.
  6. Use the tool to uninstall the driver.
  7. Reinstall the driver with the latest version from your manufacturer.

Audio does not play:

Spoiler
  1. Quit Russian Fishing 4.
  2. Ensure the audio device you want Russian Fishing 4 to come through is the default audio device.
  3. Ensure the audio device is selected as the current output device.
  4. Restart Russian Fishing 4.
  5. Go to settings in Russian Fishing 4. Ensure the volume sliders are at the level you want them at.

 

If the steps above did not resolve the problem, and you meet the minimum system specification, please contact support using the information at the bottom of this post.

 

Fish do not register, disconnects, long load times, or other network instability:

Spoiler
  1. Ensure your system meets the minimum specifications. Latency due to CPU or Graphics bottlenecks can cause these issues. If your system does not meet the minimum specifications you can continue with the below steps, but support will be limited.
  2. Stop the game.
  3. Ensure you have completed the list in Starting/General instructions.
  4. Restart your router.
  5. Restart your PC
  6. Restart the game again. If the problems persist follow the remaining steps.
  7. Run the following command in a command prompt: pathping 78.155.213.135&&pause.
  8. Take a screenshot, or copy and paste the results into a text file.
  9. Follow the instructions in ‘Contacting Support’ and include the screenshots or text file.

 

If the steps above did not resolve the problem, and you meet the minimum system specification, please contact support using the information at the bottom of this post.

 

Change Client from Steam to Russian Fishing 4 Standard Client:

Please note the following:

  • This is a one way ticket. We cannot switch you back after doing this.
  • Your gold and premium will transfer with you, but future purchases will need to be through the Russian Fishing 4 website.
  • The entire process can take up to 72 hours even if nothing is wrong. It could take longer if there are discrepancies in step 1 and 2 below.
  • You will need to download the client from www.rf4game.com.

 

If you are ok with the above, please follow the steps below:

  1. Email support@rf4game.com with the following information: Steam In Game Name and email address to use.
  2. Message rf4_support in game (Level 3 Account) with the same information from Step 1.
  3. An admin will review the information and ensure it matches for security purposes.
  4. If everything checks out, the admin will perform the transfer. You will get disconnected if you are online when the process occurs.
  5. The admin will send an email to the address from step 1 and 2 with your new password.
  6. Start the game with the standard client and enjoy.

 

Transfer Regions:

  • You only get one transfer! Choose it wisely.
  • This process can take up to 72 hours

 

Steam Users:

Spoiler
  1. Send a message to rf4_support in game with your current region and the region you wish to transfer to.
  2. When complete you will get a message from rf4_support in game.

Standard RF4 Client Users:

  1. Send an email to support@rf4game.com with the following information: Your In Game Name, and region to transfer too.
  2. Be sure the email is sent from the address associated with the account.
  3. When complete you will get an email reply letting you know.

 

 

 

IP is blocked for x minutes:

Spoiler
  1. You are entering the incorrect password.
  2. Ensure your caps lock key is off.
  3. Wait the required time.
  4. Re-enter the password

You have been blocked from the game:

  1. You have done something so serious that we have blocked you from the game.
  2. You must contact support@rf4game.com if you wish to be unblocked.
  3. Ensure your in game name is in the email.
  4. If you do not get a response it means that you will not get unblocked.

 

You are receiving an ORE error:

Spoiler
  1. These are typically caused by clicking too fast.
  2. Wait for the animations to finish before clicking.

 

Contacting Support:

  1. If you prefer you can use the forums here to post your request instead of sending a mail. We encourage this as it may help other players solve their problems.
  2. If you are a German Steam user, use support@rf4game.com.
  3. If you are a German user on the standard account use support@rf4game.de.
  4. If you are a Russian player use support@rf4game.ru.
  5. For all others use support@rf4game.com.
  6. In the email include: Your in game name, your FULL system specification, and a description of the problem and any step you can do to reproduce it.
  7. If it is a network issue include the output from the steps in ‘Fish do not register, disconnects, long load times, or other network instability’.
  8. Navigate to this folder (C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\RussianFishingLLC) and attach the file output_log.txt.
  9. Note that it can take up to 72 hours for an initial response.

@GJ If you are still having issues, please run the following commands and see if there is an issue between RF4 and you. This can sometimes cause this problem.

 

Run a ping test - open command promt and enter the following - [ cmd /k ping rf4game.com /n 20 && pathping rf4game.com && tracert rf4game.com && pause ] hit Enter and wait for the results. See if you have any jumps in ping on the way to our servers.
 

Run a tracert test - open command promt and enter the following - [ cmd /k tracert rf4game.com ] hit Enter and wait for the results. See if you have any interruptions on the route to the game server. Contact your provider to find out why you having them.

@Craxto7 Are you attempting to use any special characters in your username? If the answer is yes, then please try to craft a name without special characters in it. If the answer is no then do the following:

 

  1. Check and see if you have malware bytes installed. If so, disable it.
  2. If malware bytes is not installed, check and see if you have any kind of web filter software running and if so, disable it.

Web filtering software and Malware Bytes in particular are known to interact poorly with our game and cause a host of weird issues related to text. If the above information does not solve your problem, please contact us at support@rf4game.com.

@Craxto7 Try these commands. These will let you know if there is any block between you and us. You are probably getting the '403 Forbidden' message which is not a block. It just means the server does not take web requests from the browser.

  • Resolution: 1280×768
  • ОС: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
  • Stable internet connection
My suggestion is that you go into the game video settings and adjust them down till you find a setting that makes the performance acceptable. Fog, Grass, and Shadows are big FPS killers, you could start with those.

As announced a few weeks before, we are sorry that we needed to split RF4 accounts and Steam accounts, but there was a lot of technical issues causing a lot of problems, so this decision was made. It wasn't an easy decision but sometimes that hard decisions need to be made.

We can't give you a 100% answer if there will be any possibility that RF4 launches players will be able to log in using s Steam in the future.

If you really want to get Steam achievements I would advise you to start a new account on Steam, as at this time, we are not able to transfer your existing RF4 launcher account to Steam account and we don't know if this will be ever possible in the future.

@OndeTvAlt Do you have Malware Bytes installed? All of the symptoms you have described we have found can be caused by Malware Bytes or other Web Filtering software. If it is installed, please disable the web-filter, or if you have the free version disable the software entirely and see if it resolves your issues.

 

If your problems persist please run this command in a command window and send the results to support@rf4game.com. We may be able to assist you. Make sure you send the full results. Screenshots or text both work just fine.

@OndeTvAltHops 5, 7, and 8 are experiencing congestion or some other problem that is causing them to drop packets. This is what causing you to have long load times when catching fish. It can also cause load delays in other areas. These hops are not under RF4 control, but you might be able to contact your ISP to get answers.

 

Your other issues are not related to latency but are game mechanics. 

For losing fish, one thing that can help is ensuring you are using good quality hooks of the right size for the species you are going after. This can help reduce lost fish. Also, fighting the fish without going in the orange or red too much can help too. Sometimes you can put too much tension on the fish and pop the hook out.

For ghost bites, often times small fish bite feeder rods and are not strong enough to trigger the alarm. I like to pick up my rod if I haven't had a bite in a while and press the R key to see if there is a fish on. You will get the message 'Reel Speed Automatically Selected' if there is a fish on.

Finally for changes in line tension, the bottom terrain does vary, and so does the current. Depending on where you are fishing your line can move without a fish on it and can result in changes in tension. Also fish can pick it up and let go, and you do not see the message because you walked away from the computer. This has happened to me many times.

Is there any other way to download rf4? it's very very slow on the launcher. I already have it on steam but I want the standalone. Or maybe can I somehow copy the game files from the steam version to the main game folder so it has to download less?

Well i tried to contact Steam Support but all their stupid automated scripting always sends me right back to you guys so i dont know how in the world im going to play my favorite game ever now all because i cannot connect to server. I JUST played this this morning and had to quit to go to store and i get back home and within hours i am unable to play. This just isnt right or fair they need to have someone there to answer questions im sure they make enough money to pay someone but NOPE they give you all these pre written questions to pick from and never answer any questions directly and if something goes wrong on THEIR end we are forced to sit and wait on them to figure it out when there is no way for them to even know in an adequate amount of time because the clients (customers because thats what we are basically) cannot tell them anything as soon as it occurs. I have to Thank yall here at RF4 however for ALWAYS answering and replying as quickly as you do. ANd for actually having someone there to speak with when things happen. Only thing is, if it isnt something that you guys have control over we have to sit and wait on games that we love to play, some of which we pay alot of money for or spend alot of money on all because they have the power to wait as long as they want before fixing issues as they occur.

I am unable to log in through steam. I was playing and then logged out to get off an island and have not been able to log back in. I ran the ping test, and it looks like its finding the server.

 

Is there some way I can continue my steam game in the stand alone client without starting over?
