The Common Barbel or Barbus Barbus is also referred to as Barbel (in Great Britain) or Barbeau (in France). The common barbel belongs to the family Cyprinidae. Numerous species of barbel (Dniepr barbel, Crimean barbel, Terek barbel) can be found in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, the Caspian Sea, and in the Aral Sea. Barbel prefer deeper areas with a stony bottom and clean flowing water. It comes to the shallows only when rivers flood. In the period of spawning barbels gather into shoals. They feed on bottom water inhabitants, fish roe and fry, as well as insects that fall into water. On the corners of its mouth and on the upper jaw are two pairs of barbels that are the most noted characteristic of the barbel. The fish use them to locate its prey on the bottom of the water body. Its body, cylindrical in shape, is covered with silver scales and equipped with pinkish fins. Its dorsal fin is high and short. The barbel is grayish green on the dorsal surface and light gray on the flanks. The common barbel may reach a rather big size (up to 85 cm) and a weight of 4-6 kg. Females are usually larger than males.

hi loving this game after a bit of help please is there any barbell on the first river thank you

Hello Keean,

You can only find common barbels on Bear lake. If you want to see what fish species are on the specific lake/river that you are in, then press ESC and open Records. It will open record catches of that lake/river and it will show what species are in the lake/river.

do you fish around the outside of those reeds or in them?  i saw cheese seems to be an effective bait for them here.  what boilies are you using?

at 43:53 i fish infront of the tall reeds straight out.

Im using waggler floats with cheese and 1.70-1.75m of depth.

I get around 4-5 barbel an hour + tench and grass carps.

I also use a royal picker rod with method, but it seems i get more barbel on float.

Fishing for Bream at 45:60 (casting north) with Pearl Barley I kept running into these guys, most were not huge but a couple of them are decent.  Did not know Pearl Barley would trigger them.

It was a good day for barbels, 45:60 almost all on nightcrawler. I never catch a barbel bigger then 6kilo, the only thing I changed today was the addition of FCarbon leader, strange if that were the solution ...

Does anybody know a working spot and a working setup with clipping for barbel? I saw at the weekly records, that the best bait is the mussel and fruit boilies and I tried several spots, several hook sizes whit this bait, but can't catch these fish. Thank you for the help.
